A light breeze prevented the Race Committee of the Marina Portoroz Melges 24 Regatta 2019, the first event of the 2019 Melges 24 European Sailing Series, from getting more than one race sailed today. Some increase in wind is forecast for tomorrow, while tonight sees the Melges 24 Sailors Dinner take place in the Marina Portoroz.
The Marina Portorož Melges 24 Regatta, first event in the 2019 Melges 24 European Sailing Series, started with a delay on shore until the southerly wind wrinkled the bay. Thirty teams representing ten nations from all over the Europe managed to complete three races with team Lenny emerging as the early leader.
The engines are warming up in Portoroz, Slovenia where in the upcoming weekend, from April 5th to 7th, the inaugural act of the 2019 Melges 24 European Sailing Series – Marina Portoroz Melges 24 Regatta – will be hosted by Yacht Club Marina Portoroz and Slovenian Melges 24 Class Association, with the cooperation of the International Melges 24 Class Association.
We have new accommodation options around the Marina Portorož Melges 24 Regata venue for your considerations.
The countdown to the new season of Melges 24 European Sailing Series has kicked off with the opening of the online entry and publishing of the Notice of Race.
The fight for the podium has been tough until the very last race as the top teams were all tied in a bunch of points. With partial scores of 6.,3.,2. the American entry War Canoe of Mike Goldfarb managed to preserve the overall lead and take the regatta win.
