LIGHTER WINDS DO NOT AFFECT THE LEADERBOARD
Nefeli (GER673) kicked-off the third event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series in style, posting two race wins, a third and a second place on day one and defending its lead ahead of Arkanoe by Montura (ITA809) with two second places and another bullet on day two.
Weather apps forecasted moderate winds dropping off at noon in Portorož on day two, therefore the Race Committee decided to start Saturday's racing an hour earlier than originally scheduled (10:00 instead of 11:00). Three races were completed with Whiteroom (GER677) being the fastest in the moderate breeze of 15 knots, Arkanoe by Montura (ITA809) claiming the victory in the second race and Nefeli (GER673) getting the better of the last race, retaining a three point lead overall.
After mooring the boats all competitors adjourned to the Marina Portorož for a well-earned cold beer.
