Leaders struggle to master the light wind

Less than 10 knots of breeze proved challenging for some crews competing at the second act of the 2018 Melges 24 European Sailing Series while for others it was a chance to put their light wind skills on display and move up the scoreboard.

War Canoe continue its reign after today’s three races in Portorož although only one point separates them from Tonu Toniste's Lenny. Light winds were something Estonians obviously enjoyed as they scored a bullet and two third results, climbing up from the sixth position into the second place of the overall ranking and first in the Corinthian division. Taki 4 by Niccolo Bertola managed to maintain third position with a margin of 2 points over Maidollis.

The ranking of the Corinthian division, reserved to non professionals, sees Lenny in control with a margin of 3 points over Taki 4 and of 12 points over Andele. Hungarian Seven_Five_Nine ended the day fourth, while White Room by Luis Tarabochia closes the top-five.

With such fluctuating fortunes and seven teams all tied in 13 points, it is all to play for on the final day of the regatta. Racing will resume at 11am, when the first of the remaining three regattas are scheduled.
